Why a normal clean doesn't cut it
Pet hair doesn't sit on top of carpet — it twists into the pile and works its way down to the underlay. Dander (microscopic skin flakes) sticks to fabric, walls and inside ducting. Pet smells come from oils on the coat that transfer onto skirting, door frames and the bottom 30cm of walls where pets brush past.
A regular vacuum-and-wipe routine deals with the visible 20%. The other 80% is what gives a property that 'someone's pet lived here' feel even after the home looks clean.
What we do on a post-pet clean
Charged at our standard £25 per hour. Most 2-bed homes need 5 to 7 hours, 3-bed houses 7 to 10 hours. We'll quote in writing before booking.
- Deep vacuum with anti-allergen heads
Multiple passes on carpets in different directions to lift embedded hair from the pile, plus edges, under furniture, and behind radiators.
- Hot-water carpet extraction
Where dander, oils or accident shadows have soaked in. Lifts a lot more than a domestic carpet washer can.
- Skirting, door frames and lower walls
Wiped down with degreaser to remove the oily film pets leave from brushing past. This is what removes the 'doggy smell' more than anything else.
- Soft furnishings and curtains
Vacuumed thoroughly. We can't launder built-in items, but we'll flag things that probably need washing, dry-cleaning or replacing.
- Air vents, radiators and fans
Hair and dander collect in extractor fans, behind radiator panels and inside vents. Often the source of allergy reactions for the next occupant.
- Enzyme treatment for accident areas
If there are known urine spots on carpet or hard floor, we treat with enzyme cleaner that breaks down the proteins causing the smell.
