After Builders Cleaning Cost by Project Type in Derby
After builders cleaning costs vary more by project than by property size, because the dust and debris depend on what was done. A new bathroom and a full extension produce very different amounts of mess. Here's what we typically estimate for the project types we get called out to most often in Derby.

Depends on project, not property
After builders cleaning costs vary more by project than by property size, because the dust and debris depend on what was done. A new bathroom and a full extension produce very different amounts of mess. Here's what we typically estimate for the project types we get called out to most often in Derby.
We charge our standard £25 per hour for after builders cleaning, with the time estimated by visit or photo. Construction dust is fine and electrostatic, so the work takes longer than a normal deep clean for the same square footage. On bigger projects, two passes (a rough clean followed by a sparkle clean) are usually better value than trying to do it in one.
The breakdown below is based on real projects we've cleaned across Derby in the last year, from single-room refurbs to full extensions.
Cost by project type
Bigger projects usually work out cheaper as two visits (rough clean + sparkle clean) than as a single pass. We split the time and the cost across both.
Common extras
- Internal window detail
Included as standard. External windows after construction work are often best done by a window cleaner separately.
- Paint and plaster splash removal
Light splashes included. Heavy or cured residue may add 30 to 60 minutes per affected area.
- Floor protection removal and disposal
We remove protective sheeting if the builder hasn't, but bulk waste disposal is the builder's responsibility.
- Carpet shampooing after dust
Construction dust embeds into carpets. Add 1 to 2 hours per room if shampooing is needed. Quoted separately.
Why two visits often costs less than one
Construction dust keeps falling out of the air for several days after work finishes. If we clean once and then dust resettles overnight, the property doesn't actually get to handover standard. A rough clean immediately after the builders leave, followed by a sparkle clean two to three days later once the air has settled, gets the property properly clean and usually takes less total time than a single forced single-visit job.
On a kitchen or bathroom replacement, single-visit is usually fine. On extensions and full renovations, two visits is almost always the right call.
When to book us in
Book as soon as you have a finish date from the builder. We need 2 to 4 working days' notice in normal weeks and 1 to 2 weeks during peak renovation season (spring and autumn). For bigger projects with two visits, we block out both dates at booking so the second visit doesn't slip.
If the builder runs over (which happens on most projects), call us as soon as you know. We can usually shift the booking by a day or two without losing the slot.
