What deep cleaning actually means
What's the difference between a deep clean and a regular clean?
A regular clean maintains a lived-in home: surfaces wiped, hoovered, mopped, kitchen and bathroom kept hygienic. A deep clean resets the property: inside the oven, behind appliances, descaled bathrooms, dust removed from tops of doors and wardrobes, skirtings, light fittings, every surface that doesn't get touched in a weekly clean.
Is a deep clean the same as an end of tenancy clean?
Very similar in scope but with a different purpose. End of tenancy is done in an empty property for inventory inspection. A deep clean is done in a furnished, lived-in home to reset its condition. The kitchen and bathroom work is broadly the same. Living areas and bedrooms get more attention to soft furnishings on a deep clean.
Do I need a deep clean or just a regular clean?
If you've never had a professional clean, are moving in, recovering from illness, planning to host, or it's been more than 6 months since a thorough clean, a deep clean is the right starting point. You can then maintain it with regular cleans afterwards. If your home is already maintained by a regular cleaner, you usually don't need a deep clean more than once or twice a year.
What's included
What does a deep clean include in a typical Derby home?
Kitchen: oven, hob, extractor, inside cupboards, behind freestanding appliances where access allows, full descale of taps and sink. Bathroom: full descale, sealant treated, toilet base and behind cistern, extractor cover, tiles. All rooms: dust removed from tops of doors, frames, wardrobes, picture rails, light fittings and skirtings, windows cleaned internally including tracks, switches and sockets wiped, floors deep-vacuumed and mopped.
Do you move furniture during a deep clean?
We move light furniture (chairs, side tables, small units) to clean behind and underneath. Heavy items (wardrobes, sofas, beds, dressers) we clean around and behind where there's existing space, but we don't shift them. If you want behind a heavy item cleaned, move it before we arrive or ask us to bring an extra cleaner.
Do you clean inside fridges, freezers and ovens?
Yes to all three. The oven is fully degreased including racks, door glass and seal. The fridge is emptied, shelves and drawers washed, seals cleaned. The freezer is wiped if accessible, but full defrosting needs to be done by you the day before.
Time, cost and frequency
How long does a deep clean take?
A one-bed flat is 3 to 5 hours, a two-bed house 4 to 6 hours, a three-bed house 5 to 7 hours, depending on condition and clutter. Heavily-used family homes and properties that haven't had a deep clean in years take longer.
How much does a deep clean cost in Derby?
Our standard rate is £25 per hour. A one-bed flat usually works out at £75 to £125, a two-bed house £100 to £150, and a three-bed house £125 to £175. We give an estimate over the phone after a few questions and stick to it unless we find significant unexpected work.
How often should I have a deep clean?
Most households we work with book a deep clean once or twice a year, usually in spring and before winter or hosting season. Homes with pets, children, smokers, or low natural ventilation benefit from more frequent deep cleans. If you have weekly or fortnightly regular cleaning, twice a year is normally enough.
