What is an inventory check?
An inventory check (also called a checkout inspection) happens when you move out of a rental property. An independent clerk or the letting agent compares the current condition of the property to the original move-in inventory.
The purpose is to identify any changes in condition, including cleanliness. Any shortfall can result in deductions from your deposit.
Inventory clerks are trained to be thorough. They check everything from the obvious (oven, bathrooms) to the less obvious (light switch plates, air vents, window tracks).
