Carpet cleaning in Derby costs around £30 for a single room, £75 to £150 for a whole house, and £25 to £35 for a staircase and landing. Price depends on room size, carpet condition and whether stain treatment is needed.

Carpet cleaning is priced by area rather than strictly by the hour, because the machine does the work at a fairly predictable rate. A standard bedroom takes about an hour including moving furniture, pre-treating and the extraction pass itself.

The prices below are for hot water extraction, the method most manufacturers specify and the one that actually lifts soil out of the pile rather than moving it around.

Common extras

  • Pet stain and odour treatment

Add £15 to £25 per affected area. Urine needs an enzyme treatment rather than a normal shampoo, or the smell comes back as the carpet dries.

  • Heavy traffic lane treatment

Add £10 to £20 for hallways and doorways where the pile has greyed. Pre-spray and agitation before extraction.

  • Furniture moving

Light furniture moved as standard. Beds, wardrobes and sofas can be worked around or moved if you clear them first.

  • End of tenancy carpet clean

£75 to £100 for a typical three-bed as part of an end of tenancy booking. Cheaper than booking it separately.

How long carpets take to dry

Four to six hours in a warm, ventilated room, and up to twelve in winter with the windows shut. Hot water extraction leaves the pile damp rather than wet. We open windows, leave the heating advice with you, and you can walk on it in socks almost immediately.

If someone tells you carpets will be bone dry in an hour, they are dry cleaning rather than extracting. That is faster but lifts less out of the pile.

What comes out and what does not

Traffic soil, food and drink spills, pet accidents, general greying and most stains respond well. Bleach marks, dye transfer from rubber-backed mats, cigarette burns and sun fading are damage rather than dirt and cannot be cleaned out.

Old stains that have been scrubbed with supermarket spot cleaners are harder, because the residue attracts soil and can wick back up. We treat them, but we tell you honestly when we think a stain will only improve rather than disappear.
